- 16 oz ketchup base ingredient, if you want more sauce, start with a bigger bottle of ketchup
- 1/2 cup worcestershiresauce
- 1/2 onion finely chopped
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup brown sugar dark
- 2 tbsp mustard dry or prepared
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper or chill flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp butter
In a medium size sauce pan. Melt 1 tbsp butter and sauté' the onions for about 2 min or until onions are a bit translucent.
Add the contents of 1 - 16oz bottle of ketchup. Stir, add the dark brown sugar, Worcester sauce, vinegar, optional mustard and cayenne. Cook together until the clumps in the brown sugar are dissolved.
Let cool, sauce is ready for use. Keeps for about 10 days.
